Although computer-aided translation (CAT) tools are certainly more useful to translate technical texts, they can also help literary translators be more productive and improve the quality of their work. In this webinar we will discuss how literary translators can benefit from the use of such tools considering comfort/ergonomics, the possibility of creating a bilingual corpus for future searches, help to type faster and the ability to control the text as whole.

Reginaldo Francisco - Reginaldo Francisco is a Brazilian technical and literary translator (English>Portuguese and Italian>Portuguese) with experience in the areas of Business/Management, Corporate Communication, Contracts, Quality, Human Resources/People Management, Coaching, Tourism and Marketing, and six literary translations published. He has a bachelor's degree in Letters/Translation and a master's degree in Translation Studies. As a result of his research and experience in the area, he has published articles and delivered courses and lectures on Translation, and is the author, with Prof. Dr. Claudia Zavaglia, of the book Parece mas não é: as armadilhas da tradução do italiano para o português [It Seems to Be But It's Not: Traps in Italian to Portuguese Translation]. He has also been a registered Wordfast trainer since 2009, providing on-site and on-line training sessions. Reginaldo Francisco é tradutor técnico e literário (inglês>português e italiano>português) com experiência nas áreas de Negócios/Gestão, Comunicação Corporativa, Contratos, Qualidade, Recursos Humanos/Gestão de Pessoas, Coaching, Turismo e Marketing, além de seis traduções literárias publicadas. É bacharel em Letras com Habilitação de Tradutor pela Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP) e mestre em Estudos da Tradução pela Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC). Como resultado de suas pesquisas e experiência na área, publicou artigos e ministra cursos e palestras sobre Tradução, e é o autor, juntamente com a Profa. Dra. Claudia Zavaglia, do livro Parece mas não é: as armadilhas da tradução do italiano para o português.
