Description
In Part 3 of the 'Diagnostic Imaging' series, we will further investigate the functions of a further imaging modality: echocardiography. Echocardiography is one of the most common imaging modalities because of its portability and wide range of applications. Consequently, it is essential that medical translators have a good grasp of the general medical concepts for normal and abnormal imaging, as well as a thorough understanding of the terminology. We will examine transthoracic echocardiograms, transesophageal echocardiograms and cardiac stress tests. Finally, we will also address 3-D and 4-D echocardiography and contrast enhancement. As always, we will balance terminology with real-world translation examples to address the real-life challenges of translating these reports.
